Performance will happen on November 27th 14:20 at VDA Gothic Hall, Maironio st. 6, Vilnius.

Performance is organised as part of the FORUM "Why are artist-researchers better story-tellers? From textbook to artis'st book to performative publishing" Full programme. Please register for the FORUM until November 25th.

The intervention uses the instructional dimension of the performance score format, intended to connect a past materialisation to a yet-to-come future, to reflect on the histories and anticipations of artistic investigations. It tests the possibilities of a score to reshape spatial and social configurations while opening a reflection on the limits of the present, invisibly traversed by multiple disjunctive temporalities. Part of a postdoctoral research project on how systems of performance notation in dance, music and visual art can incorporate incongruous timelines and notate what is absent, invisible or inaccessible, the contribution will explore ways to disrupt the “here” and “now” of artistic research. It thus aims to ask who is part of what narratives, how lines are drawn between knowledge and fiction and where it is possible to intervene in these demarcations.

BIO
Dr. Irina Gheorghe is postdoctoral research fellow at Vilnius Academy of Arts. She has studied painting and photography at the National University of Arts Bucharest and has completed a PhD in artistic practice at GradCAM/TU Dublin.
Irina Gheorghe works primarily with performance, in combination with installation, drawing, photography or video, to address the tensions inherent in the attempts to speak about things beyond our possibilities of observation, from extraterrestrial life to hypothetical planets. Her work explores the notion of deviation as a technique of estranging the everyday, abstraction as a language for interstellar communication and the absurd as the mood of interaction to a world beyond perception.
