Parodyk virtuvę
Sharing Research Methods for and by Artists
Landing Issue 3 is Out Now
We kindly invite you to the book launch event on 29th September, Tuesday, at 17:00 in the Reading Room for Art Books of the Vilnius Academy of Arts Library (Maironio St. 6, Vilnius, Room 208). With authors Rūta Spelskytė, Adomas Žudys, Indrė Liškauskaitė, Eglė Davidavičė and the Arklys publishing initiative present in person.
Issue 3 of LANDING presents creative practice research in a versatile book form. Artistic researchers Miklós (Miki) Ambrózy and Sophie Durand have developed this issue through dialogue with the publishing initiative Arklys (Graphic Arts Department), two international contributors, and five local artist-researchers. This issue connects different generations of artists, diverse methods of research, healthy practices of disagreement, and a creative resolution – the limited handmade edition.
Parodyk virtuvę is a Lithuanian phrase used to say: “Show me the kitchen!” It is used when somebody wants to know the secrets of a particularly tasty dish or hack, as an invitation to look behind the curtain without reference to specific skills or discipline. It is a gesture to reveal what is going on before a dish—a delicious blend of art and research—is served. Showing is a relational act. It implies interaction, questioning, trust, and generosity.
In Show Me the Kitchen, we are staying with artists in their own milieu, detailing a plurality of knowledges they carry. Artmaking transforms into art-doing. Whispering, conspiring, resonating, rocking, rotating, attracting, looping, co-conditioning, and defying gravity are ways in which our authors navigate their respective kitchens.
They are pleased to meet you, do come inside!

The concept of “parodyk virtuvę” is one that has guided Landing from the start. While usually issues of LANDING are thematic, this issue takes the ethos of the journal—disclosing the kitchen behind creative practice—as a starting point. Wealth is in the act of giving.
