Scholarships for Full-time Master Degree Studies for the academic year 2025/2026
Funding under the call can be provided to the citizens of Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China (People’s Republic of China and Taiwan), Georgia, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, New Zealand, South Korea, Ukraine, The United States of America, Uzbekistan and foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin of non-EU and non-EFTA countries, 70 grants in total (monthly scholarships and grants covering the study cost), ensuring quotas for citizens of the following countries:
- Ukraine (20 grants);
- Foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin of non-EU and non-EFTA countries (5 grants).
No more than 10 grants are allocated to citizens from any other country, except for citizens of Ukraine and foreign citizens of Lithuanian origin. A monthly scholarship is equal to 560 EUR. The grant covering the study cost is limited to and cannot be higher than the national standard study cost.

Please note that when applying for a scholarship, a candidate must have an official letter of pre-acceptance for full-time Master’s degree studies from VDA.
In order for us to issue a pre-acceptance letter, you are obliged to submit ASAP: a portfolio and a statement of the main artistic objectives and concepts for the final MA project and thesis as well as pay the application fee. Other documents must be submitted before the VDA application deadline – 1st July, 2025.
Types of scholarships at the VDA
For state-funded PhD students, as defined by the government. The scholarship is paid for the entire duration of the doctoral studies, but no longer than the duration of the doctoral studies in which the doctoral student is enrolled, as laid down by the legislation.
It is awarded twice a year (in the autumn and spring semesters) to first and second-cycle students and students in integrated studies, for the best learning achievements compared with the learning achievements of students in the same year in the same study programme.
Earmarked scholarships can be granted:
- for significant results of studies and scientific activities;
- for significant achievements in artistic activity;
- for representing the Academy in international projects scientific conferences, competitions, exhibitions, and public or sports activities;
- in case of the death of a family member (parents/guardians, children, spouse);
- after the birth of a child;
- due to long-term illness;
- due to a difficult financial situation;
- in other critical cases;
- to support students' scientific, research, creative activities, and exhibition projects;
- for members of the VDA Chamber Choir;
- for the responsible members of student representatives of departments;
- for the president of the VDA student representation;
- for participating in the mentoring program with students from foreign countries.
The earmarked social stipend is given to full-time bachelor and master degree students (stipend amount from 70 Eur. (1 BSI) to 140 Eur. (2 BSI).
Fill the following application form for an earmarked one-off scholarship until the 15th of each month. Together with the application form, a student has to additionally attach proof of documentation for the mentioned case.
Nominal scholarships are awarded to advanced students for exceptional achievement or merit in specific fields. They are awarded to the best students in certain fields of activity for special achievements or merits. The grounds and principles for awarding these scholarships are provided for in the regulations and/or requirements for awarding a specifically named scholarship.

Cash awards are also awarded in the annually organized competition - "Young Designer Prize" - Winners of prof. Algimantas Švėgždas' name drawing competition.
Application for a nominal one-time scholarship
Social scholarships - allocated by the State Studies Foundation of the Republic of Lithuania. In order to apply for a social scholarship, foreigners must have a permanent residence permit in Lithuania and also meet at least one of the established social criteria:
- is one of the persons who live (or) a person living alone who has the right to receive (or) are receiving social allowance according to the Law of the Republic of Law of the Republic of Lithuania on Monetary Support for Deprived Citizens;
- has a working ability level of 45 percent or less, or a severe or moderate level of disability, determined in accordance with the procedure established by legal acts;
- is no older than 25 years old and has been assigned guardianship (care) until they reach adulthood according to the procedure established by law, or their parents (they have only one parent) are dead.
Students with disabilities can apply for two types of benefits:

1. Financial assistance is provided to the disabled, subject to eligibility:
- has a working capacity of 45 percent or less;
- is studying for the first time under a non-university, I or II cycle or integral university study program;
- have no debts according to the program being studied and no disciplinary sanctions.
The following financial aid measures are available to students with disabilities:
- A target payment of 50 percent of the state social insurance basic pension is allocated every month for special needs.
- To partially compensate for study expenses, a targeted payment of 3.2 times the minimum standard of living set by the Government of the Republic of Lithuania is allocated for each semester (for those who study in places partially financed/non-financed by the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania).
Application forms:
Requests for targeted payment and financial support for the disabled are submitted to the social care department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts within 10 days from the beginning of the semester. A copy of the disabled person's certificate, passport, and certificate of studies are attached to the application for financial support.

2. Targeted benefit for disabled students studying in higher education institutions
In accordance with the Description of the procedure for Granting Targeted benefits to the disabled studying in higher education institutions, approved by the Order of September 12, 2011, of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania No. V-1666 "On the approval of the description of the procedure for Granting Targeted benefits to the disabled studying in higher education institutions" and the provisions on awarding benefits to the disabled studying in higher education institutions, approved by the Order of the Director of the State Study Fund of April 16, 2012, No. V1-29 "Regarding "Approval of Provisions for Granting Targeted Benefits to Disabled Persons Studying at Higher Education Institutions" (hereinafter - Description), we inform you that every semester the submission of applications through the Information System of Scholarships and Financial Support for Students (hereinafter - IS "SUPPORT") for the targeted payment for the autumn/spring semester of the main admission begins to get during.
In order to receive a targeted payment (152 Eur. each month) during additional admission, students must log in to IS "PARAMA" via the Foundation's website and electronically fill out a request in the prescribed form (Targeted payment fall/spring semester).
Only after completing the application in this way, the student can apply for the targeted payment during the additional admission.
Please note that the targeted payment for students is allocated for one semester of study and is paid every month until the end of that semester, including the session and vacation period of that semester, but no longer than until the end of studies. A student who fills out an application during additional admission is granted a targeted payment only for the remainder of the semester.
The targeted benefit is provided to disabled students who meet the following conditions:
- Citizens of the Republic of Lithuania or citizens of other states and stateless persons who have declared their permanent residence in the Republic of Lithuania
- Has a 45 percent or lower level of work capacity or a severe or moderate level of disability as determined by law
- Studying at a higher education institution for the first time (except for cases where a disabled person, having previously discontinued studies or been expelled from a higher education institution, starts studying again. These targeted benefits are not provided for the period for which benefits were paid before the date of termination of studies or expulsion from the higher education institution:
- according to a first-cycle study program (professional bachelor or bachelor) or according to an integrated study program.
- according to the postgraduate study program (master's degree).
- according to a non-degree study program
- in the third cycle (doctorate).
- Does not have academic debts according to the studied study program and/or penalties imposed by the procedure established by the higher education institution
Targeted payments are available to all high school students, regardless of whether their high school is a project partner. Targeted payments are awarded for one semester (including the vacation period). In order to receive a targeted payment, students must submit according to the procedure and deadlines established by the higher education institution.
Documents required to receive the targeted benefit:
- Passport/ID
- Disabled person's certificate or other document confirming the level of working capacity
- Upon the death of the student
The payment of the target benefit is suspended if the level of work capacity changes (the level of work capacity is determined to be higher than 45 percent) or the student acquires academic debts or penalties in accordance with the procedure established by the higher education institution.

State-supported loans are preferential loans for students issued through the selected credit institutions (banks) for one academic year. All students enrolled on the first, second and third cycle, integrated and non-degree studies at higher education institutions in Lithuania can apply for a State-supported loan.
In accordance with the description of the procedure for granting, administering, and repaying state-sponsored student loans, the following state-sponsored loans will be provided to Lithuanian higher education students in the autumn semester.
Types of loans:
- To pay the tuition fee. The amount of this loan in one study year cannot exceed the student's tuition fee or part thereof paid for the current study year.
- For living expenses. The amount of this loan cannot exceed 50 BSI (Basic social benefits) amounts to (2,000 Eur.) during one year of study.
- For partial studies according to international (interagency) agreements. This loan cannot exceed 60 BSI (Basic social allowance) amounts to (2,400 Eur.) during one year of study.
HOW and WHEN to apply for this?
To receive a state-funding loan, go to the website of The State Studies Foundation and fill out and submit the borrower's application.
Announcemens for the state-funded loan:
In the Autumn semester - no later than August 20th of the following year.
In the Spring semester - no later than February 1st of the following year.

WHO can apply?
According to The State Studies Foundation, a state-funding loan is available to:
- Citizens of the EU, EEA, and the Swiss Confederation
- Citizens of the United Kingdom, who until the transition period established in 2020 January 24 have acquired the right to live in the Republic of Lithuania as citizens of a member state of the European Union
- Citizens who have the right to live permanently in Lithuania or who have the status of an employee, self-employed person or persons who maintain such status and their family members
- Citizens of other foreign countries and persons without citizenship who have the right to permanently to live in the Republic of Lithuania.
Students can borrow from banks on preferential terms with a state guarantee. General terms and conditions of state-supported loans.
A student can apply for a new loan every academic year. Loan contracts are concluded with the bank(s) that won the competition in the current year.
The bank provides loans on preferential terms only to those students and only for the amount for which the students have received a state guarantee. In order to obtain a state guarantee, the student must electronically submit a request form to the Foundation within the established terms.
The start of loan repayment - 12 months after the initial date of the end of studies indicated in the loan agreement or the date of termination of studies, if the studies were terminated earlier than the initial date of the end of studies indicated in the agreement of studies.
Loan repayment period - 15 years, except for cases where the specified term would end when the borrower turns 65 years old. In this case, the loan repayment schedule is drawn up so that the loan is repaid no later than when the borrower turns 65.
Loans are provided at variable interest rates: EURIBOR (euro interbank market interest rate, calculated by the European Banking Federation) + bank margin determined by the credit agreement.

The tuition fees for each study semester are to be paid within 15 calendar days from the beginning of that semester. *Your detailed payment structure is stated in your student contract.
