Abstract

„Your parcel will not be delivered today“ - DHL

Let's imagine that this investigation has suffered a catastrophic air accident - all the physical evidence, pilot interviews, black boxes, along with parts of the cargo, have been burnt and scattered over a huge area, which is currently cordoned off. As the author and investigator of this air crash, I will give you permission to enter the enclosed area and to see for yourselves and to judge for yourself why and how things happened as they happened.

Since the investigation is artistic-autoethnographic, perhaps even pataphysical, the traditional academic devices and tools are only relatively valid here. Relying on their readings and assumptions would be futile - the environment and the medium we will be entering are beyond the upper limit of the Geiger scale readings, so the tools have to be created right here on the spot. What might you need? I would like to think that we will need new organs with new environmental cognition and knowledge-gathering properties. Will it be a mechanical clamp or a newly grown tentacle with an eye? A cricket through which we will suck up the contents, or maybe just a cellophane Maxima bag or a wheelbarrow into which we will put everything?

Walking around the site you will find various assemblages, concepts, personal documents, artefacts, diary entries, press releases, debris that have been fused by explosion and fire into an amalgam of various texts and images that we must accept as material evidence of an unnamed today.
