On November 10-14, Julie Kačerovská, Ph. D., a lecturer from Ostrava, Czech Republic, visited the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
She gave an open lecture on the international student competition "BookVision," organized by the Book Design Studio at the Faculty of Arts and Music of the University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The lecture provided information about this four-year project, in which dozens of universities from around the world are participating, and from 2025, the Vilnius Academy of Arts will also be involved.
The presentation also included an overview of the activities of the book design studio and student work, as well as an overview of the study program at the Faculty of Arts and Music at the University of Ostrava.
She also held creative book art workshops for students of the Department of Graphic Arts.
The workshop began with a short lecture on selected conceptual artists (Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, David Horvitz, etc.) and the conceptual principles of their work. This conceptual approach became the basis for the creation of artists' books in the workshops, where participants were able to work with text, drawings, and photographs.
