Exhibition of the educational programme "Connecting Margins"

,,Connecting the Margins" – a collaborative educational program developed by Vilnius Academy of Arts, Central Saint Martins (University of the Arts London), and the Ukraine Center in Vilnius. The program is based on creative and innovative exploration and examination of urban spaces and related cultural practices.

These contextual and situational educational sessions, which took place in the space of the gallery "5 malūnai", were based on the experience of Ukrainian teenagers and young people in Vilnius, a city to which they have fled as a result of the ongoing Russian military invasion. Collaborating with practicing artists, curators, and educators, participants in the educational sessions used writing, visual, sound, and other creative forms to develop their reflective and analytical skills, enabling them to observe, read, and creatively think about their immediate living environment. The workshops were focused on a specific location and centered around Vilnius Railway Station.

The results of the programme presented in the exhibition "Connecting the Margins", curated with the participants, from 9 November to 8 December 2023 at the VAA Gallery "5 malūnai". It showcases ideas, conversations and playful material created throughout the programme from 28 October to 4 November.

Creators of the educational program: Markas Klišius (Central Saint Martins), Silke Lange (Central Saint Martins), Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Graphic Art Department)

Here are some moments from the opening of the exhibition, which took place on 9 November at 18:00 at the VDA gallery "5 mills", captured by photographer Nail Garejev.
