Projekto tikslas

prisidėti prie Lietuvos kultūros paveldo išsaugojimo sudarant sąlygas kultūros paveldo tyrimų vykdymui ir edukacinei veiklai Žemaitijos regione.

Projekto uždaviniai

1. Išvystyti kultūros paveldo tyrimų ir konservavimo paslaugas Žemaitijos regione; 
2. Gerinti visuomenės požiūrį ir didinti supratimą apie kultūros paveldą, jo reikšmę ir svarbą. 
Projekto veiklos: 
1. Taikomųjų tyrimų ir konservavimo centro patalpų Telšiuose įrengimas; 
2. Tyrimų ir konsultacijų vykdymas; 
3. Specialistų kvalifikacijos kėlimas; 
4. Informaciniai ir edukaciniai renginiai visuomenei. 

Projektas finansuojamas iš Europos ekonominės erdvės finansinio mechanizmo programos.

Project summary

Project „Applied research of cultural heritage conservation center in Telšiai, Kęstučio g. 3-2, the establishment and reinforcement of the activities".

Cultural heritage is an invaluable part of the national self-expression. It is crucial not only for saving national identity, but also creating the added value of the economy.
Understanding the importance of the preservation of cultural heritage, Telsiai branch of Vilnius academy of Arts together with the public institution ''Citizenship, Democracy and Law Programs Centre" decided to initiate the project aimed to save Lithuanian cultural heritage creating the conditions to pursue cultural heritage assays and educational programmes in Samogitia (Žemaitija) region.

Currently in Samogitia in the Register of the objects of cultural heritage are included 7497 objects. It is only small part of the objects for which are needed cultural heritage explorations. Only in the museums of Telšiai region are stored - 80 thousand pieces, 30 thousand of which need to be restored. Also, in Samogitia are a lot of urban and architectural cultural heritage objects, ethnographical bowery's and authentic samogitian granges which have a status of cultural virtue and are not included into the Cultural heritage register and are perishing. To change the situation it is crucial to initiate the historical, artistic, physical assays and services of the restorations and conservations works.

Telšiai faculty regularly is consulting, analyzing and restoring valuable cultural heritage objects, however such services are very limited because of the lack of the special equipment. It is observing that in Telšiai region is very high demand of such services. The nearest restoration workshops are only in Siauliai and Klaipeda.

During the implementation of the project will be fulfilled the repairing of the building in Telšiai (address Kęstučio str. 3-2, Telšiai), reconditioned 297,26 m2 space which will be adapted for the Research and development centre and will be bought the necessary equipment. Besides, will be employed 4 cultural heritage specialists - 2 of them will be certified and 2 of them will be lifting the qualification. During the project will be implemented 60 assays and 225 consultations.

In order to inform the museums, manors, municipalities and the society about the project, will be implemented 29 informational events all of over Lithuania. Also, as to educate the society to save the cultural heritage will be organized 10 educational events in the new Research and development centre.

Project objectives
1. To develop the cultural heritage research and conservation services Žemaitija region;
2. Improve public attitudes and to raise awareness of the cultural heritage, its meaning and importance.

Project activities:
1. Applied research and conservation center indoor installation In Telšiai; 
2. Research and consultations; 
3. Specialists training; 
4. Informative and educational events for the public. 

The expected project duration is from 2014.06.30 to 2016.06.30 (2 years)
