On February 22-25, 2024, the Department of Graphic Arts of the Vilnius Academy of Arts will present a new, unique space – “Tune in” Creative Laboratory at the Vilnius International Book Fair, in the Young Readers' Book Hall (IV).
The “Tune in” Creative Laboratory is designed to tune in inspiration, sight, drawing and your body into the form of an artistic book, to tune in participation in the action, into binding a book. By engaging in various ways, to tune in feelings into the creation of a book and to tune in falling in love with it.
The open construction-binding stand, created exclusively for the Young Readers' Book Hall of the Vilnius Book Fair, will present a program of 12 book art workshops, where participants are invited to experience and try out the wide range of visual content of books through the creation of illustrations, comic strips, various characters, artist’s books, and drawings as text. The workshop tutors are professional artists, illustrators and lecturers from Lithuania and abroad: Ulla Saar (Estonia), Sirdja Dragovic (Montenegro), Ieva Babilaitė-Ibelgauptienė, Marija Marcelionytė-Paliukė, and the students of the Vilnius Academy of Arts' Master's degree programme of Graphic Arts: Titas Antanas Vilkaitis, Elena Augusta Victoria Reckevitz.
Visitors and guests of the Vilnius Book Fair will be greeted by the exhibition “Tune in” at the Creative Laboratory space. It will present picture books, artist’s books, and conceptual projects, created by the students of VAA Departmet of Graphic Arts, with each creation reconsidering the book with the help of contemporary art strategies and mediums.
