Patricija Poškevičiūtė | ANATOMIUS PATRICIANUS

I've always felt drawn to both science and art. Atlas was formed out of a paradoxical state - avoiding doing things that I don't want to do, but at the same time being attracted to them. This state is marked by a constant duality: the desire to be in two spaces at once - reality and the fantasy world, the desire to remain practical but also to be a dreamer. It comes from an infantilism that is slowly growing into the skin of an adult, from a reluctance to play by the rules that everybody accepts - believing in magic realism and chance, I create my own game. Admit it - a painted or fictional organ is far more attractive than a freshly disemboweled body on a prosectorium table. When I create an atlas, I round off the corners that are uncomfortable for me, and I cover the uninteresting and unacceptable surroundings with the creatures of fantasy. "Anatomius Patricianus" is a drawing project, an imaginary atlas of anatomy that combines medicine and fantasy. It is my shield from the often "taken for granted" reality that I don't want to be in.
