Normantas Ulevičius
MUTE
Analog Photography Exhibition
Vilnius Academy of Arts Gallery “5 malūnai”
October 10 – November 12, 2025
Opening: October 10, 7 PM
Vinyl set by Dovilis Paliukas @dubmono
Music never rests. It trembles, expands, and dissolves into space. Yet there are moments when sound gets caught. In a photograph, it pauses — taking the shape of silence.
In these images, performers are suspended between sound and stillness. A movement. A glance. A flash of light. Each becomes a fragment of music we can no longer hear, yet can still feel.
In analog photography, I find the same living pulse I sense in natural sound. Like the hiss of a vinyl record — imperfect, but true.
MUTE is not simply a record of concerts. It is a study of silence, where music continues to resonate even when not a single note reaches the ear. An invitation to pause, to look, and to hear the silence that echoes within the image.
Normantas Ulevičius – is a sound engineer and music producer with nearly three decades of experience. Born into a family of musicians, he grew up surrounded by instruments and the stage — once destined to perform, he chose instead to listen.
A few years ago, an analog camera became his new instrument. MUTE is his first solo exhibition, where the aim is not perfection but truth — a moment caught in time, revealing what often slips unseen.
