Dr. Aušra Trakšelytė
Art researcher, curator, organizer of cultural events
Research interests: contemporary visual art (environmental art, contemporary sculpture, site-specific art); contemporary art theory and criticism.
b. 1981, Plungė; lives and works in Vilnius. Since 2011 has been with VAA Institute of Art Research, since 2013 as a Researcher. 2007 graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts with MA in art history and theory. 2012 defended her PhD theses in art criticism “Site-specific Art: Theoretical Discourse and Expression in Lithuanian Contemporary Art” (supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lolita Jablonskienė). Since 2013 in collaboration with prof. Henrik B. Andersen has co-organized Theoretical Seminars & Critical Meetings for MA students in visual art programmes at VAA, since 2014 has been lecturing on contemporary Lithuanian art for MA students of VAA.
Her interest in site-specific art is both practical and theoretical and includes curating, public lectures and contributions to various publications. Since 2003 she has actively participated in the field of contemporary art by writing articles, essays and exhibition reviews, curating exhibitions, giving papers in conferences, and lecturing in Lithuania and abroad.
