Vilnius Academy of Arts will host the international seminar “Art and Science: Processes, Systems and Histories of Entangled Knowledge”, taking place on 28–30 September 2026 at the VDA.
The seminar will explore the relationship between art and science from historical, methodological and conceptual perspectives, focusing on the processual, experimental and systemic connections between the two fields throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
The programme will feature presentations and discussions by researchers and practitioners from Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania and other countries, addressing topics ranging from interdisciplinarity and collective inquiry to scientific methodologies, ecology, evolutionary biology, measurement and the role of science in contemporary artistic practices.
The seminar is organised by PASS – Center for Practice-based Art Studies (University of Copenhagen), Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – Schools of Visual Arts, Vilnius Academy of Arts, Umeå Academy of Fine Arts and the KUNO network.
The event is intended for academic staff members as well as students from variuos higher education institutions, particularly the KUNO network academies. Staff members from the KUNO network may apply for a KUNO Teacher Grant to support their participation in the seminar. Grant application process is managed by home institutions of the participating staff.
