On June 26th, the Vilnius Academy of Arts Graduation Ceremony was held at the Vilnius Faculty, during which graduates were awarded Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral degrees.
The graduates were congratulated by the VDA Rector, prof. Ieva Skauronė, Dean of the Vilnius Faculty, prof. Marius Pranas Šaliamoras, Chair of the VDA Student Council of the Vilnius Faculty Rokas Auryla, and other members of the Academy community.
During the ceremony, 27 Cum Laude diplomas were awarded to graduates who achieved outstanding academic results throughout their studies.
The winners of the Dr. Ieva Pleikienė Award, established to recognize the best Master’s research thesis, were also announced. The first prize and a €200 award were presented to Milda Trimakaitė (Photography and Media Art MA programme) for her thesis “Empty Pleasure Beyond Matter” (supervisor Dr. Jurij Dobriakov). The second prize and €170 award went to Eglė Kulbytė (Ceramics MA programme) for “Craft After the Algorithm: From Surface to Volume in Contemporary Ceramics” (supervisor Dr. Julija Fomina). The third prize and €150 award were presented to Gustė Kripaitė (Sculpture MA programme) for “Repositories of Memory and the Possibility of Their Materiality” (supervisor Dr. Simona Žemaitytė). A special €150 prize was awarded to Emilija Čepulė for her thesis “On Floating Bodies: Another Way of Reading the World” (supervisor Dr. Jurgita Ludavičienė).
During the ceremony, two And Studio awards of €500 each were also presented for the best Graphic Design Bachelor’s final projects. The awards went to Donata Kinčiūtė for the creative project “Project Iris” (Graphic Design BA programme, supervisor Associate prof. Dr. Kristė Kibildytė-Klimienė) and Liepa Budėnaitė for the creative project “The Eel Phenomenon: The Book of Anguilla anguilla” (Graphic Design BA programme, supervisor Associate prof. Dr. Rūta Mickienė).
The Kazimieras Motieka Scholarship, worth €3,500 and awarded for original artistic expression, professional excellence, topical relevance, and originality of ideas, was presented to Elinga Jurkūnaitė (Fashion Design BA programme).
