Parodoje pristatomos iliustracijos, technologiškai ir idėjiškai tikslingiau įvardijamos kaip mados estampai. Kūriniai įkvėpti gyvai patirtų istorinių šaltinių: Šiaurės Italijos kraštų meno muziejuose, galerijose, devynioliktojo amžiaus žurnalų mikrofilmų formatu Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense Milane, Milano mados bibliotekoje (Milano Fashion Library) rastais prancūziškojo „La Mode Illustrée“ žurnalo numeriais bei asmeninėmis fotografijomis kultūrinių kelionių metu.
Mados estampo idėja užgimė 2021 m. studijuojant Briuselyje (Arba-Esa Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles), kuomet susipažinusi su XVIII-XIX a. mados iliustracijos terminu ir nagrinėdama vizualiuosius šio termino pavyzdžius supratau, kad pirmieji madų žurnalai, keliavę po pagrindines Europos madų sostines, buvo iliustruojami būtent grafikos meno technikomis (labiausiai tokiame iliustracijos žanre paplitusi – giliaspaudė).
2023 m.studijų metu Milane (NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti ), nacionalinėse ir nišinėse bibliotekose ieškojau pirmųjų mados žurnalų leidimų, kurių iliustratyvioji pusė padėtų suvokti grafikos meno tendencijas tuo metu, kai formavosi mada, dabar diktuojanti ,,haute couture“ kanonus bei kryptis.
Susidomėjusi istorinių mados žurnalų archyvais iškėliau sau tikslą atgaivinti estampo mados iliustracijos istoriją, pakeičiant žiūros tašką kompozicinių elementų logikoje bei pačios kompozicijos koncepte. Tokiu principu apdaruose pradingo žmogiškasis pavidalas, o fone radosi persipynę vizualiojo meno palikimai. Šie du vyraujantys elementai (mados beasmenė figūra ir aplinka, apsijungusi iš atrinktų meno kontekstų) sudaro vaizdinius, kurie neša žinią apie vietos, objekto, kitaip tariant, daiktiškojo pavidalo būvį be žmogaus, tačiau paties žmogaus praėjusiu buvimu išliekantį jausminį poveikį.
Ekspozicijoje greta mados estampų taip pat supažindinama ir su juos įkvėpusiais šaltiniais bei susijusiais patirtais gyvenimo naratyvais meninio tyrimo metu.
Saulė Matulevičiūtė (g. 1999) grafikos meno kūrėja, kurios meninėse praktikose aktualizuojamas patirtų gyvenimo naratyvų, sutiktų žmonių, pažintų autorių, patraukusios akį architektūros, emociškai paveikių kūrinių vizualus interpretavimas linoraižinyje. Šiuo metu studijuoja Vilniaus dailės akademijoje, grafikos magistro studijose.

Saulė Matulevičiūtė “ Fashion image. Haute couture print in visual art. Part I “
Illustrations presented in the exhibition are technologically and ideologically more appropriately named as fashion (haute couture) prints. These works are inspired by personal experiences during the artistic research: in the art museums and galleries of Northern Italy as well as in the microfilm format of 19 th century magazines at the Biblioteca Nazionale Braidense in Milan, issues of the French magazine "La Mode Illustrée" found in the Milan Fashion Library, and personal photographs during cultural journeys.
The idea of a fashion print was born in 2021 while studying in Brussels (Or-Esa Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles), when I got acquainted with the 18th-19th centuries term - fashion illustration and while examining the visual examples of this terminology, I realized that the first fashion magazines which traveled around the main fashion capitals of Europe were illustrated using printmaking techniques (the most common in this genre of illustration is gravure printing).
During my other studies in 2023, already in Milan (NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti), in national and niche libraries, I looked for the first editions of fashion magazines, the illustrative side which would help me to understand printmaking trends at the time when fashion was forming, which now dictates the canons and directions of "haute couture".
Being interested in the archives of historical fashion magazines, I set myself the goal of reviving the history of printed fashion illustration by changing the point of view in the logic of the compositional elements and the concept of the composition itself. Within this principle, the human form disappears in the clothing, and the historical legacies of visual art appear in the background. These two predominant elements (an impersonal figure of fashion and the environment combined from selected art contexts) form images that convey the message of the existence of a place, an object, in other words, a tangible form without a person while the emotional impact of the past being still remains.
In addition to the fashion prints, the exhibition also introduces the sources that inspired art pieces and that are related with life narratives experienced during the artistic research.
Saulė Matulevičiūtė (b. 1999) is a printmaking artist, whose artistic practices bring to life the visual interpretation of experienced life narratives, met people, known authors, eye-catching architecture, and emotionally affecting works all captured in a linocut. Currently she is studying at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, master studies in printmaking.
