Vytenis Burokas is an artist and curator currently living in Vilnius, Lithuania. He combines various disciplines and genres, searching for fragmented traces of cultural influence in the present. The findings of these investigations are filtered through personal experience and observation. Burokas’s ongoing research and findings are presented in the form of performance, publications, installations, sculpture, and drawings.
In his practice, he explores metabolism and the fermentation of knowledge, drawing attention to the relationships between microorganisms and humans. In his projects, Burokas often creates alter ego characters for his narrative-based performances, installations, and drawings.
In 2013–2014, Burokas participated in the Rupert Alternative Education Programme. He completed his BA and MA studies in Contemporary Sculpture at the Department of Contemporary Sculpture at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.
