Profile of study programme

VDA Kaunas Faculty Master's Degree Program in Architecture is an essential
stage of intellectual environmental cognition education, based on a modern approach to architectural education,
in order to develop critical and analytical professional thinking by concentrating individual creative powers, taking into account the new social and aesthetically formed environment in architectural practice. taking into account the newly socially and aesthetically formed environment and encouraging its use in architectural practice. The teaching process, based on the rich historical architectural and urban past of Kaunas, seeks to form a perspective of the modern world that responds to the needs of modern society, therefore guarantees a more stable professional future. Due to the small number of VDA Kaunas Faculty students studying, a special close creative connection is created between the student and the lecturer, reminiscent of the classical student-master model and allowing to highlight such values and artistic subtlety that is difficult to form in a large university. The program focuses on the promotion of creativity, includes the architect's broader and deeper analysis of the territory in various fields: sustainable development, engineering systems, construction technology, philosophy, heritage protection, cultural landscape, social, art management and other areas.
A clear historical, traditional and socio-cultural aspect of the studies will help students to recognize a sense of the needs of a diverse society, including the socially or physically disabled, by creating an accessible and supportive environment for all. Master's studies are intended to deepen the cultural understanding of the environment and the use of technical knowledge, promoting the student's individual creative expression. Through a focus on large environmental structures and small architectural elements (from macro to micro), students will be introduced to a dynamic contemporary approach to the historic environment, with particular emphasis on the relationship between architecture and the environment at all stages of the research and design process.
