Dr. Jolita Liškevičienė
Researcher in old book art, art expert and curator
Research interests: illustrations in the 16–17th c. Vilnius publications, emblem studies and heraldry of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Lithuanian Baroque art resources and art iconography, modern children books illustrations, book art.
b. 1970, Klaipėda; lives and works in Vilnius. Since 1996 has been with VAA Institute of Art Research as Researcher, since 2002 as a Senior Researcher. 1994 graduated from Vilnius Academy of Arts in Art History and Theory; defended her PhD thesis in art criticism “Emblems in 17th century Vilnius print” (supervisor Dr. Rūta Janonienė). 1994–1995 was a Head of the VAA museum.
Gives lectures in book art, emblem studies and heraldry at VAA and Vilnius University, takes part in the process of doctoral studies, gives papers in conferences, is an editor, and a committee member of numerous book and illustration art contests.
In 1994 Jolita Liškevičienė has received the Martynas Mažvydas award for students’ research in the field of book science. 2004 she was awarded for her monograph, articles and courses in book art with Martynas Mažvydas Award for “Merits to Lithuanian language, literature and book art” established by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania. 2010–2013 curated several exhibitions of children book illustrations in Bologna, Pavia and Genoa.
Since 2004 a member of the Lithuanian Association of Art Historians, since 2014 a member of the Society for Emblem Studies.
