This lecture was held and this issue of LURCH was made during the 4th iteration of KUNO DIY Nida Equinox and Media E(q)cology School (NEMES) “I was walking, mapping, dancing, swimming, sauna-ing, socializing, reading, recording, designing, presenting until it was no longer clear: am I an artist or researcher?” at the Nida Art Colony of Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania.

Between academia and the art world, LURCH offers a space for experimentation in humanities research, poetry and the visual arts. It is edited by David Quigley and produced in Vienna.“Lurch” in Viennese dialect is the name for the little figures of dust, hair and various other household particles that form in spaces beyond broom or vacuum (dust bunnies). In German it is also the name of an amphibian reptile. In English “lurch” implies a sudden motion, pitching, staggering, tilting, wobbling. . . and is also the name of the butler in the Adam’s Family (“you rang?”). Lurch derives its name from all of these contexts.
