The Bachelor study programme in the field of Design (specialisation of Graphic Design) (state code of 6121PX016) is implemented by the Department of Graphic Design of the Faculty of Bachelor Studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts.
The goal of the study programme of Graphic Design  is to is to train highly qualified professional graphic designers of broad profile for industry, trade, publishing and e-publishing, service sector and creative industries, who are able to create objects of graphic design related with projecting and presentation of images, identities and visual information for the markets of various products and services in traditional, virtual and interactive media.

Building up students’ general and specific competences in the study programme, the principles of Dublin Descriptors are revealed in the following forms:
compared to graphic designers without a diploma, graduates will demonstrate a higher level of general and specific knowledge of typography, illustration, photography, type design, visual communication as well as acquired projecting skills of objects in image and identity, publication and e-publication, web design and other spheres of graphic design;
will be able to objectively apply knowledge and understanding  and will have formed a professional attitude of a graphic designer to a speciality, will be able to formulate and substantiate decisions that are needed solving problems of graphic design;
will be able to collect, analyse, systemise information of graphic design and to interpret data necessary for finding solutions to artistic/scientific, social and ethic problems , will be able to conduct researches under supervision of a teacher;
will be able to assuredly and professionally convey visual and verbal information, ideas and problem-based projecting solutions to specialist and non-specialist audiences, will be able to apply skills of critical and complex thinking.
will demonstrate sufficiently developed skills of autonomous studies that are necessary for proceeding degree in the second cycle of studies in graphic design, design management or relative sphere or to apply knowledge in professional activity.

Bachelors who graduate the first cycle study programme of  Graphic design
(General competences (transferable skills):
acquires basic skills of research work and management skills: information gathering, analysis, synthesis;
demonstrates communicative and information presentation (oral, written, visual, etc.)  skills for wider audiences;
perceives the need for learning and professional competence maintenance, is able to continue studies autonomously;
is able to work self-dependently and in a team and to efficiently work under supervision of an experienced practitioner;
is able to autonomously and efficiently plan own workload, to complete assignments on time and to assume responsibility;
is aware of principles of International Conception of Intellectual Property Protection;

(Subject-based (specific) competences of the first cycle study programme in the study field of design):
possesses knowledge of graphic design history and contemporary development and is able to synthesise it; follows trends in graphic design development and needs of environment and e-environment, interdisciplinary links with other areas of arts and sciences;
is able to collect information, interpret and analyse works of graphic design, to generalise them and make professional, well-reasoned conclusions about compliance of their content, idea and conception with their purpose;
perceives importance of the completeness of graphic design work (verbal and visual information), demonstrates basics of self-dependent work in a team;
possesses specific theoretical knowledge and skills of graphic design: those of visual communications, typography, illustration;
is aware of and able to apply classical and latest techniques, technologies and materials of graphic design (classical graphic, print and digital print, internet and computer programmes, interactive multimedia), is aware of possibilities for their application;
is able to self-dependently create problem-based and solution-oriented conceptions of graphic design projects, to present them in a written, verbal and visual forms (sketches, print, e-presentations), to project works of graphic design and to professionally realise or implement them;
is able to discuss topics of graphic design, visual communications, to provide well-reasoned arguments regarding own creative ideas on the basis of world context, possesses a critical and self-critical attitude, is able to apply methods of critical analysis and other research methods;
Perceives possibilities for and needs of continuous professional development, self-dependent studies, active participation in professional associations and creative processes.

The study programme enters the system of EU higher education emphasising the quality of the study programme, its exceptionality, solid professional links with European design schools and Lithuanian enterprises.
