From June 3 to 14, 2025, the VAA Library joins the buzz of the final thesis exhibition and in the Art Reading Room presents:
- The final theses of bachelor's and master's students from the Department of History and Theory of Art.
- The creative project Wardrobes for Memory by Justė Rinkevičiūtė, a graduate of the Master's program at the Department of Site-specific Art and Scenography. Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Jurgita Gerdvilaitė, and her accompanying research paper Reflective Cinema Objects: The Silent Presence of Things. Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dalia Ramutė Karatajienė.
How can visually experienced film objects evoke bodily responses – awakening senses and memories, both personal and collective? This work examines the impact of set design objects in reconstructing a tangible sense of the past. The installation, drawing on principles of set design, features four wardrobes, each representing a specific day in a character’s past. Each wardrobe's private space becomes a portrait of the character. The objects within act as clues to the owner’s way of life. Blending authentic remnants of the past with fictional items, the work evokes a layered experience of history, viewed through a present-day gaze.
