Entanglement | Exhibition of Master degree design students
Thin, transparent, like the threads of a web, ideas are being woven. They intertwine, overlap and eventually tangle. We, too, become entangled—searching for their loose ends, weaving and knitting them further. We tie and untie, cut and braid, repeating these actions rhythmically, over and over again. Using different techniques: weaving, heat melting, molding, embroidering, pressing, piercing, and sometimes simply wandering, we connect and tangle. Childhood nostalgia and the relevance of the present, ancestral wisdom and contemporary science, nature’s rawness and humanity’s reimagined artificiality, masculine and feminine identities. By experimenting with form and materiality, observing the environment and finally turning to ourselves, we transform ideas into tangible objects.
In this annual exhibition in the „Akademija" gallery, you will witness the contemporary design processes of the 1st and 2nd year master's students of the Design Department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Visitors are invited not only to observe, but also to try to grasp the creative entanglement within the chaos of beginning. Together with 16 young designers envisioning the future, get entangled in the intricate web of contemporary design research, ideas and objects.
