Exhibition: September 23 - October 15th
We invite you to the opening of 80. re:situated at Galerija Akademija in Vilnius – an exhibition of works by students and tutors of the Painting in Architecture specialisation at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
80. re:situated emerges from a history of displacement. For decades, people, knowledge, skills and ways of thinking about art have moved between Vilnius and Toruń. In the anniversary year of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University, the direction of this movement is symbolically reversed. What returns to Vilnius, however, is not history in its original form, but practices transformed by eighty years of development in another place, time and context.
The exhibition brings together contemporary works in stained glass, artistic glass, mosaic, objects and site-specific interventions, entering into new relationships with the architecture of Galerija Akademija. Here, material and space are not neutral – light, transparency, fragility, weight and the conditions of display actively shape how the works are experienced.
80. re:situated is part of Sources. Fine Arts in Vilnius and Toruń, a project exploring the shared history of the two academic centres and its contemporary transformations. The return to Vilnius does not close a historical loop. Instead, the exhibition focuses on what has happened in between – on how artistic practices change as they move through places, times and successive generations. We look forward to seeing you! 23 September – 15 October 2026 gallery Akademija, Vilnius
