The international scientific conference "Culture and Creativity" will be held from November 16 to 22 this year. It is designed for researchers, students, and professionals from the cultural and creative industries. It also welcomes anyone interested in the theories and practices of creative business, arts and culture management, and marketing.
The aim of the conference, now in its 16th edition, is to stimulate international debate and cooperation. It also seeks to assess the impact of the changing cultural environment on marketing, management, economics, finance, policy and other areas of the creative and cultural industries. This year's conference will include various engaging workshops, in addition to thematic sessions.
The conference organizers, Prof. Dr. Virginija Jurėnienė (Vilnius University, Lithuania) and Prof. Jonas Audėjaitis (Vilnius Academy of Arts, Lithuania), discuss what makes this year’s conference unique and why it is significant for conversations about the future of culture.
A new image for a new format: science knowledge complemented by practice
The organizers highlight that this year's committee consists of young and active scientists. With a new format, a refreshed image, original insights, and improved communication tools, they believe the conference will reach audiences across different continents.
"We not only got to know each other better by organizing and running the conference in 2023, but we also achieved our intended goals. This experience encouraged us to strive for new and innovative solutions," says Prof. Jonas Audėjaitis. He is pleased that the result of cooperation strengthens the ties between different institutions and creates opportunities for ambitious projects.
The 16th conference will be held in a completely new format, consisting of two parts: practical and scientific. While this approach presents challenges for both organizers and participants, the two days of scientific presentations and five days of workshops led by renowned artists are expected to establish a platform for unique dialogue. The upcoming discussions between creators and scholars about professional achievements are especially important, as they provide opportunities for sharing research and receiving valuable feedback.
"We are ready for the challenges we might face during this conference. I am convinced that the fusion of academic and creative potential will provide a unique opportunity for growth. This will be the moment when theory and practice merge, sparking new perspectives and opening the door to creative horizons,” says the Head of the Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius Academy of Arts.
Prof. Jonas Audėjaitis is confident that this format will appeal to everyone-not just artists and scientists-as it raises important questions about the meaning and application of creativity in modern society.
"Our goal is to share research results in arts and culture management and marketing, promote good practices, and establish new partnerships. Planned conference sections will cover topics such as innovations in arts and culture management, the use of AI tools, arts project management, and other current issues," says Prof. Dr. V. Jurėnienė, who represents the Vilnius University Kaunas Faculty of Arts research group, "Creative Industries and Innovations."
