The "[6pt]" Book Design Conference will take place on the 16th of November at the VDA "Chess hall" (Malūnų St. 6). In the event there will be lectures given about the professional experiences of 6 different presenters coming from the EU.
The conference will have the following open events: book fair, various displays, a movie review.
From 2014, the book display conference once again organized this year will have the main theme - book alchemy. The lectures are planned to be presented within the book design magic topics: when does a book become mesmerizing and intellectually attractive, what book design magic is effective today, and what book design tendencies are ongoing and we should follow them, or the opposite - turn around and look the other direction?
This year there will be 6 different presenters:
- Sarah Boris (Great Britain/France) will talk about book publishing as an art practice;
- "Hands on Press“ (Lithuania) will share how non-standard techniques are used and how the challenge of publishing has an effect on design solutions;
- Marko Golub (Croatia) will discuss the designer games with the "anatomy" of a book;
- Honza Zamojski (Poland) will talk about the challenges with which designers, publishers, and authors face every day;
- Radu Manelici (Romania) will show the risks of book design;
- Demian Conrad (Switzerland) will share the insights about the effect of AI within the designer profession.
Additionally, Lars Harmsen (Germany) will present a special Ukrainian design publishing, who is well-known as the representative of the worldwide publinshing company "Slanted", while the discussion with the design representatives from Ukraine will be at the closing of the event.

On October 17th (a day after the conference) the VDA "Chess hall" will open its doors not only to book design enthusiasts, but to all who are interested in books of the artists, printed graphic miniatures, or other printed small and folded goods for Christmas. In the event you will find the art book fair [Naked Print] in which there will be book publishers, creators, as well as short presentations by other publishing places, reviews of students' art portfolios. The highlight of the event will be the new Chech movie review "Identita" which talks about book publishing.
[6 pt] The conference will have the following theme displays:
On November 8th - 30th the gallery "Kairė-dešinė" will invite yo a display called "Young new graphic art. Metaphysics of a book" in which young Vilnius Graphic Art Center book artists and their metaphysical experiments will be presented.
On November 11th - December 6th the VDA gallery "5 Malūnai" will host a display "Unique design books from all over the world". "Stiftung Buchkunst" (Germany) display will represent the newest worldwide tendencies of the book design. Additionally there will be a chance to see "The Best Book Design Contest" display in which "Mystetskyi Arsenal“ will present the Ukrainian book art contest laureates.
