Ramūnas Alminas | In the Light of the Absolute

May 12–29, 2026

Until May 29, the VDA Gallery Artifex (Gaono St. 1, Vilnius) will present the exhibition “In the Light of the Absolute” by Ramūnas Alminas.

Is emptiness merely the absence of matter, or is it matter’s very prerequisite? This ontological inquiry defines the creative trajectory of Ramūnas Alminas. Questions that once led ancient Indian thinkers toward emptiness (shunya) and Persian scholars to zero (sifr) now permeate the artist’s worldview, transforming the exhibition's objects into philosophical instruments.

Interacting with light and the viewer’s perspective, the surfaces of the metal objects create an illusion of shifting forms or an unexpected sensation of velvet or silk. The works evoke a meditative experience, opening a timeless and paradoxically transparent state of being. It is an artistic search for the Absolute – an effort to grasp the ephemeral, to give it aesthetic form, and to calmly suggest that a different dimension exists beyond the boundaries of matter.
