On the evening of 27 March 2025, in Vilnius Old Town, on the prominent Saviour's Hill near the Missionaries' Ensemble, a thick fog rolled in, shrouding the silhouettes of the new construction on the grounds of the Missionaries' Gardens. The installation "White Darkness", a site-specific art installation, temporarily submerged the controversial apartment complex in a symbolic fog.

With this artistic response to the lack of coherence, the artist Rėda (Rėda Brandišauskienė, MA 2k.) invites us to rethink why the public interest in heritage protection is still sacrificed to the short-term private interest, even in Lithuania's most precious UNESCO site.

The project was funded by the Lithuanian Research Council (LMTLT), contract No. S-ST-24-48.
