The sole University-level MA program in Photography in the Baltic states is delivered by a faculty comprising educators with diverse specializations and internationally recognized artists offering personalized mentorship. Situating photography within a broad socio-cultural framework amidst rapidly evolving technological landscapes, the Master of Photography program aims to furnish students with both theoretical understanding and practical competencies relevant to creative and professional milieus. Emphasizing the expansion of applied research in contemporary photography, the program underscores its intersections with the digital realm, networked environments, innovative forms of book production, diverse media for image dissemination, and interactive exhibition design encompassing moving images.
This interdisciplinary program intertwines theoretical frameworks with practical applications, encompassing contemporary discourses, Anthropocene critique, theoretical and creative writing, book publishing, curatorial practices, and critical theories of photography. Such integration enables students to conceive and actualize original concepts, leveraging their artistic acumen, international networks, critical thinking faculties, and adeptness in creative presentation. Equipped with these skills, graduates are poised to autonomously engage in artistic endeavors, initiate publishing ventures, curate exhibitions, and undertake scholarly research within the realm of photography.

Learning outcomes:
The graduate of the program will be able to discover, compare and evaluate the events and tendencies of contemporary art and photography in Lithuania and the world, also to evaluate her own creative work and the works of other artists in a wider socio-cultural context. Will be able to effectively integrate research technologies and data from different fields of art and science within own photographic project, also be able to extract and apply relevant research results in individual creative and research activities. Will be able to generate and implement original art ideas, professionally develop her own work, understand the peculiarities of photography as a unique form of art, also its similarities to and differences from the other types of visual art. Will be able to create and manage both visually and technically diverse creative projects. Will be able to present them to a wide and diverse audience, nationally and internationally, to discuss artistic content in a professional and popular settings. Activities of teaching and learning: Theoretical and practical seminars, creative workshops, creative/professional internships, colloquia, lectures, individual consultation, group discussions.

The program prepares highly qualified specialists of art, capable of initiating and leading photographic projects, to work in the field of photography, art and innovative cultural industries, museums, galleries, festivals, advertising, media and publishing agencies.
