The Vilnius Academy of Arts, in collaboration with ELIA (European League of Institutes of the Arts), hosted the international ELIA PIE Internationalisation Community Meeting on June 3–5, 2026. The event brought together more than 120 internationalisation experts, educators, researchers, administrators, and professionals from 27 countries across Europe and beyond.
This year’s theme, “The Curriculum in Context,” invited discussions on the role of internationalisation in contemporary higher education in the arts and design. Participants explored how international and intercultural experiences shape curricula, academic environments, and student experiences in both formal and informal learning contexts.
Over the course of three days, discussions and working sessions focused on diversity, inclusion, sustainability, student well-being, academic mobility, and curriculum development.
Representatives of universities, art academies, conservatories, and design schools travelled to Vilnius from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Singapore, China, and many other countries. Participants also had the opportunity to experience the cultural life of the Lithuanian capital by visiting the VDA Graduation Show, the National Art Gallery, attending cultural events, and, on the opening evening, experiencing a performance by artist Lina Lapelytė.
The Vilnius Academy of Arts sincerely thanks all partners, speakers, participants, volunteers, and members of the Academy community whose contributions helped make the ELIA PIE Annual Meeting a success.
