Collaboration between VDA and MIT: bridging art, science, and innovation

On 17-21 of March, prof. Ieva Skauronė, Rector of the Vilnius Academy of Arts, visited the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, USA, together with the representatives of other Lithuanian scientific, educational, and business institutions participating in the MIT MISTI programme.

The Rector, prof. Ieva Skauronė, had the opportunity to experience first-hand the dynamic and creative community that characterises this institution. Continuously ranked among the top universities in the world, MIT exemplifies how innovative teaching methodologies, research, and creativity intersect to address global challenges.

"MIT fosters both academic rigour and a creative spirit of discovery, while both students and researchers are constantly pushing the boundaries of their disciplines. During the visit, it was clear to see how MIT's motto - "mens et manus" - is embodied in everything the institution does. There is a determination to combine knowledge with practical applications, as MIT's modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment are a great help. People from all over the world, working and studying at MIT, contribute their knowledge and talents to the common goal of making the world a better place through their ideas and innovations. The way MIT's intellectual environment fosters personal and professional growth is inspiring. The courage, originality, and risk-taking of this community reaffirms my belief that curiosity and creativity have the power to shape the future, as well as education and innovation come together creating transformative change," says Rector, prof. Ieva Skauronė.

As part of the ongoing cooperation, this summer Vilnius Academy of Arts is hosting two MIT students for internships at the VDA, thus, joining the global community of innovation, technology, and interdisciplinarity.
