From September 14 to 22, the Ceramics department of the Vilnius Academy of Arts will host an international Cirrus network creative workshop “Design and Wood Firing II”.
Sixteen students from various art academies across the Nordic and Baltic countries have been invited to take part in this intensive creative project. During the workshop, participants will collaborate with experienced lecturers, exploring the heritage of Lithuanian vessel forms and seeking new contemporary interpretations. The creative process will be based not only on practical experiments with ceramic technologies but also on discussions about cultural contexts and the relevance of traditions in contemporary art. Special attention will be given to outdoor kiln firings, offering students the opportunity to experience a communal and tradition-based working atmosphere. The workshop will foster not only the development of professional skills but also intercultural dialogue and the strengthening of ties between academies. To conclude the program, a small exhibition will be held on Sunday, where participants will present their works to colleagues, lecturers, and the academy community.
The creative workshop has been funded within the Nordplus/Cirrus framework.
