Research interests: Modernization processes of the Lithuanian visual art and sculpture in second half of the 20th century - the 21st century visual art management and curatorial theory and practice.
Elona Lubytė, b. 1964 in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1987 she graduated Art historian, the LSSR State Art Institute (now - Vilnius Academy of Arts). Since 1987 she has been working at The Lithuanian National Museum of Art as a curator of the collection of Old and Contemporary Lithuanian of the second half of the 20th century - the 21st century, and the Diaspora Sculpture.
In 2000 she defended her PhD in Social Sciences (“The System of Contemporary Art and Its Management”) at Vilnius Gediminas technical University (Vilnius TECH).
Since 2000 he has been a lecturer at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, until 2020 at the of UNESCO Department for Cultural Management and Cultural Policy, and from 2021 at the Department of Art History and Theory.
Since 1991 member of the Lithuanian International Association of Art Critics (AICA - Association Internationale des Critiques d'Art), 1998-2004 - President. Member of the European network on cultural management and policy (ENCATC) since 2008.
Since 1992 specialist of the Council for the Removal of Movable Cultural Objects of the Departament of Cultural Heritage Under the Ministry of Culture.
In 2021, Elona Lubytė was awarded the Lithuanian Government Prize for Culture and Art.
