Profile of study programmeThe aim of the Textile Art Media Master program is to train textile artists to be able to analyse, evaluate and interpret art phenomena and processes in a wide cultural context. Our graduates will be able to design and realise independently technological and conceptual art projects that meet contemporary criteria. The purpose of Textile Art Media master’s study programme is to provide students with the latest artistic and academic knowledge based on applied research that can help them find best solutions to various problems that arise in new and unfamiliar environments, can be used when working with innovations and carrying out professional artistic-academic research and artistic-creative activities. Students develop their professional knowledge in the field of latest textile technologies, scientific innovations, new media art (video, photography), and interdisciplinary arts; and theoretical knowledge in the fields of Lithuanian and world art history, art philosophy, sociology, anthropology, art management and curation. The results of artistic-academic research are integrated in creative practice. Objectives of the postgraduate MA programme: • To encourage discursive analytical reflection on the contemporary cultural and artistic situation, art theories, ideologies and practical directions of contemporary art; • To deepen the students’ competence in textile practices and understanding of contemporary processes in Lithuanian and international textile art; • To form research skills, critical thinking, an the ability to establish the limits of their topic; to apply theoretical knowledge in practical analysis of contemporary textile and contemporary art in general; • To use acquired knowledge and skills competently and creatively in the rapidly changing artistic and cultural context by developing independent creative thinking through practical examples. A Master degree provides a textile artist with the ability: to recognise and identify academic issues; to find and organise research material; to choose theory and methodology to analyse it and make conclusions; to analyse and evaluate critically artistic and cultural phenomena; to use skills of written and oral communication; to deepen knowledge independently; to experiment and create unique, original, aesthetically and conceptually suggestive works of art; to conceptualise his or her creative choices; to make solo exhibitions; to participate in international exhibitions; to organise and realise group projects. |

Occupational profiles of graduatesA graduate can engage into individual creative practice, organize individual exhibitions, he/she has the skills of participating in collective art projects. Graduates can work for institutions requiring a qualification of an artist as well as for light industry enterprises, firms and alike; they can also establish their own individual companies and thus create new job positions. After completion of master’s studies graduates can pursue a national and/or international artist’s career, participate in competitions and projects, international and national exhibitions, work as artists in the field of applied textile or textile industry, and establish creative companies. Also they can work in various state and private organisations that require employees with a wide humanitarian profile, work in higher education institutions and continue with Third Cycle studies (art doctorate studies). |
