Anna Chostegian | Prarasto laiko beieškant (rekonstrukcija)
Tapus atsiminimu, įvykis neišvengiamai tampa nuolatinės rekonstrukcijos grandinės dalimi – nuo to momento kiekvienas atsiminimas bus koreguojamas žmogaus suvokimo, vaizduotės ir ankstesnės patirties kaleidoskopo bei nuolatinės laiko tėkmės. Su kiekviena rekonstrukcija užpildoma vis nauja spraga, kol galiausiai liekama su klausimu: ar tai iš tikrųjų įvyko?
2021 ir 2022 m. vijausi įvykius, o tiksliau, prisiminimus, kurie būtų įvykę, jei nebūtų užklupusi pandemija. Nostalgijos jausmas laikui, kurio nepatyriau, pastūmėjo mane konstruoti savotišką alternatyvų naratyvą apie išgyventą laiką ir ieškoti prarasto laiko. Perkelti praeities what ifs į dabartį, apjungiant abi laiko juostas. Pasipriešinti laiko praradimui ir nesugrįžtamumui fiksuojant, dokumentuojant, sluoksniuojant ir kartojant. Patirti Nidą – erdvę, kurioje pirmą kartą buvo patirta atminties rekonstrukcija ir iškreiptas laikas. Praėjusių metų pavasarį pagaliau galėjau rekonstruotais prisiminimais ir paieškų rezultatais pasidalinti su kitais, nors ir trumpam.
Dabar, praėjus beveik metams vėl grįžtu į galerijos erdvę, kad rekonstruočiau tą prisiminimą – įvykį, kuris šįkart iš tiesų įvyko. Ši rekonstrukcija nebus tiksli, nesvarbu kiek pastangų būtų įdėta. Ji niekada neturėjo šanso būti tiksli, nes kiekvienas elementas pradėjo savo kelionę kaitos ir irimo procesais, sukeltais laiko. Iškraipomas garsas ir vaizdas, pamažu ištrinama ir užpildoma vis daugiau spragų, negrįžtamai jas pakeičiant. Negrįžtamai keičiant ir mane.
Bet gal tai ir buvo viso to esmė. Pagaliau paleisti ir leisti dalykams galutinai išsikreipti. Leisti kaitai įvykti.

Anna Chostegian (g. 2000) vaikščiotoja, atminties konservuotoja, atsitiktinumų kolekcininkė, pasikliaudama analogines medijas ir technikas kaip giliaspaudę, analoginę fotografiją, juostinius grotuvus ir videokameras, tyrinėja atminties, laiko ir tapatybės temas. Šiuo metu studijuoja Vilniaus dailės akademijoje, grafikos magistro studijose.

Anna Chostegian | In search of lost time (reconstruction)
Once something becomes a memory, it is subjected to become a part of a chain of constant reconstruction – every single recall will be adjusted by the kaleidoscope of one’s perception, imagination and previous experiences as well as the ever-present flow of time. With every reconstruction a new gap is filled in, until one is left with a question: did that really even happen?
Throughout 2021 and 2022, I was chasing events, or more so memories, that would have happened if the pandemic hadn’t hit. The feeling of nostalgia for the time that I hadn’t experienced has pushed me to construct a sort of an alternative narrative of the time lived, and to search for the time lost. To bring the things that were supposed to happen in the past to the present, merging the two together. To resist the loss and irreversibility of time by recording, documenting, layering and repeating. By engaging with the space where the first reconstructed memory and warping of time was experienced – Nida. Last year, at the end of spring, I was able to finally share the reconstructed memories and results of my search with others, even if only for a short while.
Now I am returning to all of it again, almost a year later to reconstruct that memory – an event that actually happened this time. This reconstruction won’t be exact even with my concious effort. It never will be, as the signs of time had started to etch themselves into every single element, distoring sound and image, slowly erasing and filling in even more pieces, changing them irreversibly. Changing me irreversibly.
But maybe that was the whole point. To finally let go, let things warp and distort. To let things change.

Anna Chostegian (b. 2000) is a walker, memory preserver, collector of coincidences, relying on analogue media and techniques such as intaglio printing, analogue photography, tape recorders and video cameras to explore themes of memory, time and identity. She is currently studying at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, master studies in graphic arts.
