On 10-12th November, 2021 Vilnius Academy of Arts hosted the lecturers of the strategic partnership project "Plastic Justice" (2020-2022) from the institutions of the project partners: Central St. Martins, UAL; Elisava, Barcelona; Iceland Academy of Arts; Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague, Netherlands; and VAA Department of Graphic Design (Vilnius Faculty).
The purpose of the meeting was to develop guidelines for the "Teacher’s Guide", ie to define thematic and methodological approaches for the pollution of plastics (more specifically microplastics) in water, air, soil and the human body. This is one of the intellectual products that will be developed during the project. During the meeting the previous activities of the project were reviewed, the structure of the "Teacher's Guide" was discussed, and the optimal structure of the document was sought.
A visit to "Plasta", one of the largest plastics recycling companies in Eastern Europe, was also included in the programme of the meeting.
It was decided to hold next meeting in February 2022 in Barcelona and involve not only lecturers but also 5 students from each institution.
On 30th October, 2021 an environmental conference was organized in Amsterdam (The Netherlands) by the NGO "Plastic Soup". In the context of the conference, the works of students of the Department of Graphic Design of the Vilnius Academy of Arts on the topic of microplastic pollution were exhibited: Emilis Jonaitis' video project "The Invisible Side of Micro Plastic" and Evelina Germanovič's publication "Plastic planet".
