Urban Gaming workshop was a Cirrus Intensive Course organized at the department of Graphic design by Aalto University, Vilnius Academy of Arts and the Icelandic Academy of Arts. The theme of the workshop was public space communication and intervention by means of participatory games and act of playing – in other words, benign gamification of urban and social design. In the workshops, the participants will create concepts for different kinds of participatory games taking place in public space. By site-specific approach, the communication can be delivered to the specific part of the city concerned or the whole city. The teachers in charge of the course were Tarja Nieminen (Aalto University, Finland/workshop coordinator), Aušra Lisauskienė (VAA, Lithuania), Sam Rees (Icelandic Academy of Arts, Reykjavik) and Lode Coen (Belgium).

The pilot workshop took place on February 5th - 10th, 2018.

"Urban Space Gaming" was attended by 30 students from 6 Scandinavian and Baltic schools.
