From the 17th to the 24th of October Vilnius Academy of Arts (VAA) Klaipėda Faculty students of Interior Design took part in an internship at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain.
The focus of the 7-day workshop was to generate design ideas for the Barcelona Pavilion, originally designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich, having been the German Pavilion for the 1929 International Exposition.
The internship was organized and led by assoc. prof. Saulius Jusionis alongside prof. Alvaro Rojas - a world renowned Costa Rican architect - who flew in especially from San José, Costa Rica, with his expert knowledge, and a famous local architecture critic prof. Fredy Massad from the International University of Catalonia.
The best projects of the students will be chosen after the results of the competition are announced.
Student accommodation and travel expenses were funded by the VAA.
