In a two-week intensive architecture course, each student will design a temporary pavilion for a specific artwork in an imaginary landscape.
Learning from Diogo’s experience and from also some of his own references on the field of ephemeral architecture, and following step by step classes, the students will be provoked to take advantage of the potencial of temporary spaces to create immersive, experimental and innovative pavilions.
Diogo Aguiar Studio is a Portuguese architecture practice founded in Porto, in 2016.
The studio focuses on spatial and material experimentation in the pursuit of creating immersive and sensorially appealing spaces. It operates on the fields of Art and Architecture, conceiving small buildings, interiors and spatial installations and oscillating between public and private contexts.
In 2018, the studio was selected to integrate the official Portuguese Representation at the 16th Architecture Venice Biennale – Public Without Rhetoric, with their temporary Garden Pavilion.
Over the last years, the practice has been distinguished with several nominations for international awards, namely the recent double nomination for 2022 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
Diogo Aguiar is also commissioner of Concreta, the main construction fair in Portugal, co-founder of Galeria de Arquitectura, an independent architecture exhibition space, and an invited professor at Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade do Porto, Porto.
