Information for exhibitors
We give priority to textile art (fiber art) and design exhibition contributions from the artists from Lithuania and from abroad! Also the guiding object at the core of the gallery’s focus lays materiality in all its reflexive and physical forms. It welcomes projects that engage in the topic in a variety of ways: from sound to cloth, from object to text, from thought to action. Thus, Artifex seeks the re-discovery of textile under new and creative terms and in unexpected and ever-changing circumstances. The gallery is interested in the artist's unique approach to the material, experiments, different techniques...
Preference will be given to textile (fiber) art and design projects, but applications are welcome from creators working in various fields.
Deadlines
The applications for the exhibitions to be held in 2026 are expected from 1st to 31st of August, 2025 (we will announce our decision by contacting everyone personally by email until the 17th of September, 2025).
Applications will be selected by the gallery selection committee.
About the gallery
Artifex is a Vilnius Academy of Arts - affiliated gallery in Vilnius, Lithuania, with a focus on contemporary textile (art and design), broadly-interpreted. It frequently features exhibitions by the Academy’s staff and students as well as prominent international artists, collective exhibitions and collaborations. Its intimate 36- square- meter space at the heart of the Vilnius Old Town often hosts cultural events and participates in the public life of the city’s artistic scene.

Important! After submitting your application, a message should appear on your screen: "Thank you for your application! We will contact you soon." If you do not receive an additional confirmation email from us within a few days after submitting your application, please write to us at artifex@vda.lt – sometimes, due to technical issues, your application may not reach us.
Important to know!
Exhibit display fee*:
Those who wish to hold exhibitions at VAA Textile Gallery ARTIFEX are charged a maintenance cost fee (weekly fee EUR 150 (VAT included).
* Please contact the gallery staff to enquire if you have to pay for your exhibit display. Members of the VAA community including VAA teachers and students of any level as well as alumni students (up to 2 years after graduation) can use the exhibition space FREE OF CHARGE!
The gallery does not cover the cost of living, traveling and transportation of the works.

Evaluation criteria
• Alignment with the gallery’s direction and concept;
• Priority is given to textile art and design projects (in various approaches);
• Relevance and necessity of the proposed theme;
• Professionalism (artistic biography, previous creative achievements);
• The overall context of exhibitions/applications may also influence the committee’s evaluation.
The evaluation committee consists of at least five members (artists, curators, gallerists, and art historians).
If several applications receive the same number of positive evaluations, the gallery will decide which project will be selected for implementation based on the overall exhibition context.
