Irina Peleckienė | ILLUMINE/INTERPRETATIONS | 25/2/2020–14/3/2020

Process – The framing of a moment – Transformation – Conversion – The transcendence of materiality – The elimination of boundaries – The movement of light – Coalescence

ILLUMINE/INTERPRETATIONS is the third in the series of exhibitions examining my creative process, which also include ONTOLOGY OF SHADOWS (2019), ILLUMINE (2019).

While I’m not looking to restrict myself to this theme, glass as a material has become my intermediary, “broadcaster,” introspection, motivation, dialogue, simultaneously “the light at the end of a tunnel” and destruction. I focus on purifying both – the material and myself – waiting for lead to be transformed into gold, not asking why and what for. I am enjoying the process of which I am a part. I keep walking in search for myself. My shadows follow me. Time after time, I find myself in a state of weightlessness, which creates a new reality for me. Every time I look at myself, I see other – I follow my own footsteps with light illuminating the path. To Paraphrasing a quote from the Bible: ‘Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path’ (Psalm 119:105), I’d say: ‘My work is a lamp to walk by and a light to illumine my path’.
