Vilnius Academy of Arts gallery “Artifex” will invite you to the exhibition of Eglė Surotkevičiūtė-Dean's (1964–2019) works "Eglė Dean Textile Studio" on November 17, 6 p.m.
A graduate of the Department of Art History and Theory of Vilnius Academy of Arts, an art critic, an artist who has tried the language of literature and cinema, has drawn and painted, but has devoted most of her time for the creation of textile designs.
After leaving for the United States in the first year of Lithuania's independence, Eglė Surotkevičiūtė graduated from Otis College of Textile Art and Design in Los Angeles in 1992. She was successfully creating fabric design examples for several years, collaborated with various textile manufacturers in the USA and Europe - worked in Spain and Portugal. Also, she has lived in Italy, England, Holland and got acquainted with the culture of these countries.
In 2005, Eglė Surotkevičiūtė-Dean returned to Lithuania, collaborated with the cultural press, and designed several collections for “Linas AB”- a weaving company in Panevėžys.
The curators of the exhibition Ieva Baltrėnaitė and Severija Žukauskytė intend to create an installation in the gallery space, where the artist's creative path will be revealed - from the studio table, work and creative tools, design examples to fabrics woven on looms.

Opening of the exhibition will take place on 17th of November (Wednesday) at 6 PM at the VAA gallery Artifex (Gaono str. 1, Vilnius). Only those with valid vaccine certificates will be able to participate in the opening.
The exhibition will run until December 3rd.
