2017 m. gegužės 15 dieną, 18 val/ galerijoje „5 malūnai” pristatoma paroda "Decontructed Intimacy” (liet. k. „Dekonstruotas intymumas”)
On 15 June 2017 at 6 pm, an exhibition by Milica Janković (Montenegro) and Eliška Kováčiková (Slovakia) opens at Vilnius Academy of Arts’ gallery „5 Mills”. The show is on view until 25th of June.
Deconstructed Intimacy is a visual manifestation of a dialogue between two artists Milica Janković and Eliška Kováčiková, currently guest students at Vilnius Academy of Arts. As an outcome of their interaction with the space, the exhibition displays a complex installation, a combination of two dimensional drawings and three dimensional forms. The particulars of the installation circulating around the same subject intending to unfold several layers of the intimacy in the process of deconstruction. Through material diversity and conceptual integrity, the show plays with the observers’ expectation.
Eliška Kováčiková was born in the middle region of Slovakia. Upon finishing the art secondary school, she started to study at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava (Slovakia), where she is currently a first-year master student at Printmaking Department. Besides her two solo exhibitions she also participated in several group exhibitions, mainly in foreign countries such as Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Finland, Estonia, Russia, Armenia and China. In addition, she regularly participates in several international workshops, extracurricular courses and symposiums, as lately on ENDEGRA 2016 in Imatra (Finland) and at the MAP Workshop in Miszla (Hungary), as well as she attended on a drawing course at Repin Institute in St. Petersburg. During the last four months she has been studied at Graphic Arts Department of Vilnius Academy of Arts. By dealing with the theme of space analysis, she mainly intends to work in various media such as drawing, printmaking and sculpture. Kováčiková works with drawing as a final medium - drawing of space, drawing in the space – by attempting to transcend with it to unexpectable visions, culminated in installation form.
Milica Janković is a Montenegrin artist, at present on exchange studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts. After finishing her specialization in Printmaking at Faculty of Fine Arts, she started to work as a freelancer artist for a three-year period. Currently, she is a graduate master student at Printmaking Department of Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, Montenegro. She had one solo show and participated in numerous group exhibitions in her country and abroad. Her works were published in the Canadian Emboss Art Magazine and became part of the Imago Mundi Collection. In her works, she is questioning the boundaries of human expression, by using deformations in order to present the exterior manifestation of an inner state. She deals with this theme through usage of different media, from drawing and sculpture to installation. The matter of ‘line’, its form and movement in the space has resulted in the necessity to bend it in her artworks, as she has already committed it on paper and in metal wire. The small and large scales are combined in her installations aiming to explore what is real and how reality is ultimately subjective. The space, atmosphere and proportions in small scale invite the viewers into a subjective and intimate relationship with the piece, but do not allow to them to fully `enter` into the work.
