Vilnius Academy of Arts is the only higher education institution in Lithuania that provides Monumental Art undergraduate and graduate study programmes containing 3 branches (Fresco-Mosaic, Stained Glass and Scenography) and prepares specialists in stained glass, fresco-mosaic and scenography.
Monumental Art undergraduate study programme is very much focused on the general artist’s practical skills such as drawing, painting, composition, construction and technologies. Graduate programme in this respect is considerably different. Graduate programme study is based on post-modern, conceptual art studies. We believe that strong academic preparation of the artist (drawing, painting, etc.) adjacent to the main speciality (stained glass, fresco-mosaic, and scenography) is vital for the following reasons: firstly, graduate is fully prepared to engage in private practice in addition to acquired profession; secondly, it becomes a solid foundation of graduate studies.
