The Exhibition PLACEBO

by VDA graphic students opens at VAA gallery „5 Mills”.

Placebo (Latin placēbō, "I shall please" from placeō, "I please”) is a simulated or otherwise medically ineffectual treatment for a disease or other medical condition intended to please and comfort the recipient. The main goal of group exhibition „PLACEBO“ is to have a glimpse of placebo effect and its results in our ordinary life, show the border between conscious and unconscious and the alteration between reality, fiction and belief when it comes to placebo tricking human mind. Artworks in this exhibition repeat psychological motives of ones decisions, explore the healing ritual and the immoral side of medicine when a human becomes part of an experiment. Artworks in this exhibition seek to reveal the nature of this fenomenon and/or become a placebo for spectators itself.
Author of the idea of exhibition: assoc. professor Žygimantas Augustinas.
